Established 1970
Grand-Dad with the Great-Granddaughters.
The Lazy Spread dream began in 1970 when Frank Trice purchased 10 acres from Elzie Shepherd on Dailey Road. Frank immediately began planting pine trees and fencing the property. Over the next few years, he acquired 27 additional acres. Frank built the Bunk House, Frank's daughter and her husband purchased an adjoining 10 acre tract and built a house. Meanwhile, the pine trees were growing unchecked. Frank had hoped to harvest them as Christmas Trees, but it wasn't until the late 90's that Frank's grandson, Joshua Johnson, expressed an interest in moving back to the family homestead. Joshua planted 500 Virginia Pine Christmas Trees in January 2005. Frank's daughter sold her house and moved into town and in 2007 Joshua and Margaret acquired 12 acres adjoining Frank's property. We have planted at least 500 seedlings every year since 2005. We had a 'soft opening' in 2008 with handmade wreaths and in 2010 with pre-cut Fraser Fir trees.
